Last year in May I travelled to Hanoi for a week with my Travel & Tourism class. We met our tour guide when we got there and every day, he would take us out to places to sight see and to the attractions that interested us. My favourite part of the trip was visiting Ha Long Bay. I had always used to see pictures of this place and it was a dream to one day see it in real life. Luckily I got the opportunity to visit Ha Long Bay on my trip to Hanoi.
To get to Ha Long Bay, firstly you have to go to the pier of Ha Long Bay, to get there the easiest option is by bus or car. At the pier you will see many boats that look traditional which are called ‘Junk Boats’. There are many tour operators that run for Ha Long Bay so you have a range of selection to choose from. Whether you want to book a day trip to Ha Long Bay, two day, one night or three day, two night trip is the option of your choice, book it in advance so it saves you from the hassle once getting there. I went on a two day one night trip which was plenty of time for me to visit all the places I wanted to go to.
It took around three to four hours to cruise from the pier to Ha Long Bay as our driver cruised all the way through slowly, once we got to the bay we had time to freshen up and settle into our rooms. Afterwards we ate lunch which was a nice seafood lunch then had free time to relax until later on where we had the optional choice of kayaking. I chose to kayak along with my classmates and it was such an amazing experience! We kayaked through the caves and around the bay for at least an hour then returned back to our boats, later we had dinner and relaxed before we went to bed.
The next day we woke up and had breakfast, it was our day to return back as we only went on a two day one night tour, after breakfast we went to Thien Cung Cave where we had a tour of the caves and got to take some photos. Shortly afterwards we had lunch and made our way back to the pier where our tour ended from there. I would recommend to visit Ha Long Bay to anyone who hasn’t been- it is worth the experience.
